Russ and I are on a quest to become debt free. Our main focus are the credit card bills. If you could believe it, over $20,000 in debt. The thought of it is absolutely daunting...but necessary! While Russ was in Japan I took over our finances. Not that he wasn't doing a good job in paying off bills but I do it much better! :) Since taking over the bills, I managed to put aside over $1000 in an emergency fund, pay off two credit cards, and got us on a budget that sometimes seems impossible but we are able to put over $700 extra a month on credit cards. We are officially on a three year plan to pay off every credit card we own. That in itself is the goal. After that we will work on the cars and on the mortgage on our home in Oklahoma. It's amazing when you think of how much money you are putting on credit cards a month when you could use that money towards savings accounts, trips, investments, charity. Russ and I are by no means rich, but we could live comfortably if we just didn't have those stinkin' cards! By the 1st of April I will have the third credit card paid off and will then be able to move on to the next!
I have enjoyed working all the numbers and everyday I like to look at the budget and see where we're at and how much longer till the next card is paid off! I know, I know...such a nerd!
